About Me
Hi! I’m Suzanne Duvall, the founder of Aqueduct Books.
If you asked my mom, she would describe me as meticulous, picky, and precise. And she’s not wrong. I’ve always loved things that are correct, accurate, and orderly. It’s this love which led me to double major in Mathematics and Economics. Numbers are steady, and when we’re careful with them, they reveal reality to us.
Small business has been a passion of mine throughout my life. I’ve owned and worked with small businesses of many types: proofreading services, tutoring business, community theater productions, gymnastics gyms, and more. Each one taught me not only how challenging it is, but also how freeing it is to build something unique from the ground up. Small business owners pour their hearts into creating something they’re uniquely qualified to provide, and through that, build the life they’ve dreamed of.
That’s tremendous! I want to see every entrepreneur succeed without being held back by financial speed bumps. That’s why I became a bookkeeper: to provide the clarity and support that lets owners focus on their vision and achieve their dreams.
What Do Aqueducts Have To Do with Bookkeeping?
The name Aqueduct Books isn’t random; rather it’s inspired by one of history’s greatest engineering feats: ancient aqueducts.
Before aqueducts, water was unpredictable, chaotic, even. People depended on the whims of weather, rivers, or scarce local sources. They were often left facing drought, stagnant pools, and wells going dry, leading to a constant struggle for survival. Aqueducts changed everything. By channeling distant springs and rivers through miraculously engineered systems of channels, aqueducts delivered clean, steady water exactly where it was needed. Because of this, cities grew, farms thrived, public health improved, and entire civilizations flourished with stability and abundance.
At Aqueduct Books, I apply the same principle to your business finances. Transactions, expenses, invoices, and cash flow can feel like a destructive whirlwind—scattered, overwhelming, and full of uncertainty. I bring engineered order to that chaos with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and trustworthiness. Just as aqueducts transformed unreliable water into a life-sustaining flow, I turn financial chaos and confusion into confidence and clarity so your business
can thrive.
Why I Started Aqueduct Books
Small business is my passion, plain and simple. I’ve seen firsthand how owners pour everything into their dreams. In turn, those dreams build the world we have. It’s beautiful, and I believe everyone should have the chance to do it. All too often, keeping the books ends up being one of the largest hurdles business owners have to clear.
Many talented entrepreneurs are held back not by their ideas or skills, but instead by discomfort with numbers, math anxiety, or simply not having the time or desire to wrestle with messy books. No one should give up their dream because of their bookkeeping.
That is why I founded Aqueduct Books: to remove those barriers so anyone can achieve their dreams of business ownership. No matter your comfort level with math or bookkeeping, I provide the partnership, precision, and insights that make finances an asset, not a burden. My goal is simple: help you build the business and life you envision, with clear, orderly finances supporting you every step of the way.
I’m excited to connect and see how we can make that happen for you!
